CONvergence Note

If you’re coming to CONvergence this weekend, and plan to get a book signed by Tammy, please be sure to bring your own books to the convention! Due to a little mix-up with the bookseller, copies of her books won’t be available at the con. We apologize for any inconvenience.

And, if you won’t be attending CONvergence, check out the Events page for other appearances. Tammy may be coming to your area!

Appearances and more housekeeping

It’s been a quiet month here at tamora-pierce.net, so here’s a quick update on all that’s been going on:

Tammy’s Schedule

Tammy’s back from YALLWEST, but she’ll be returning to California at the end of the month for BayCon and more. And, before her cross-country trip, she’ll be at the Greater Rochester Teen Book Fest on May 19th. Aside from her travels, she’s been hard at work with the next book in the Numair Chronicles!

Website & Fan Questions

Here on the website, we’ve revamped and relaunched the FAQ pages. They’re organized, updated, and now contain new questions and answers. If you have a question for Tammy, check the FAQs first—they might have the answers you’re looking for!

(The new Circle FAQ, in particular, answers the two most frequently asked questions: why the Circle audios are incomplete, and what happened to the book about Tris at Lightsbridge.)

Of course, you’re always welcome to send questions to Tammy via the fanmail account. Though responses are slow, your emails are appreciated, and Tammy does get to as many as she can, as quickly as she can with her busy schedule. Thanks for your patience!

Upcoming Announcements

We’ve got some exciting news coming this summer! If you’re feeling particularly curious and/or impatient, you might find a hint about it in one of the new FAQ pages…

Con or Bust 2018 Auction

Con or Bust’s 2018 auction is live! From now until Sunday, April 22nd (4 PM), you can bid on books, jewelry, services, and more. Proceeds go to help fans of color attend sci-fi/fantasy conventions—with the goal of helping as many fans as possible! Per the website:

Con or Bust is not limited by geography or by type of con-goer. It is not a scholarship or “merit based.” Its goal is to help fans of color go to SFF cons and be their own awesome selves.

You can take a look at the auction, and the items up for bid, here. In support of this cause, Tammy’s donated autographed copies of The Immortals (the entire set!) and Tempests and Slaughter. Go ahead and check Tammy’s listings if you’d like to place a bid on these books!

Goodreads: Tammy’s Favorite Books for Traveling

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to see Tammy on the first leg of the Tempests and Slaughter tour! Though she’s resting now, in a few days, she’ll be on the road again. From the 16th – 18th, Tammy will be at Boskone, New England’s longest-running sci-fi & fantasy convention. After that, the Tempests and Slaughter tour will continue, with a stop in Brookline, MA on the 19th!

In the meantime, if you’re wondering what books Tammy’s reading between stops, you can check out this interview with Goodreads:

NYCC 2017: Extraordinary Enchantments

Earlier this month, Tammy joined authors Lisa MaxwellKatherine ArdenK. Arsenault RiveraS.A. Chakraborty, and V. E. Schwab at New York Comic Con, to speak on the Extraordinary Enchantments panel:

“Fantasy is the realm of idealism,” Pierce said. “Science fiction is the realm of the future. We can game out how the future is going to grow from the seeds we have now. But fantasy is about idealism, is about justice, is about the effects of the rule of law, is about the effects of tyranny, is about the effects of poverty; and we put these things in fantasy so that readers don’t feel preached at.”

Hello all! We’ve updated Tammy’s events page to reflect her schedules for Supanova’s Sydney and Perth events.

Both will be updated to reflect final signing times as soon as that information is available.

To answer a question that’s been going around, these will be Tammy’s only appearances in Australia this year. She would love to make it out to Melbourne, Brisbane, New Zealand, and all of the other suggested places that you guys have been begging for, but it’s just not possible with time and financial considerations. If you want to see her (at current or different locations), let Supanova’s staff know! Tammy loves Australia, and she’d love to come back.

Tamora Pierce in Sydney, Australia!

We made it! Tammy and her husband Tim landed in Sydney, Australia at 6:20 AM local time to attend Australia’s Supanova Pop Culture Expo this Friday – Sunday.

On the plane with her, and also attending Supanova, was Dark Fantasy author Anne Bishop (The Black Jewels, The Courtyards of the Others books), gaming composer/musician Michael Patti (Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void, Legend of Legends), VO performer Sean Schemmel (Goku in the US version of the Dragon Ball universe, the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe) , and actor/musician James Marsters (Spike from Buffy, The Vampire Slayer and Angel).
